W What is protein powder? Protein powders come in various forms. The most popular ones are whey, soy and casein protein. The most commonly used is whey, because it’s a water-soluble milk protein and contains a very high range of protein and less fat. Furthermore it’s a complete protein, which means it contains all nine of the amino acids necessary for human dietary needs. People who are vegan may prefer soy or plant based protein. This is the standard most common Protein Powder (Whey). This is 100% vegan plant based Do we really need protein shakes? We don't, its actually better to get protein from real meals but its just the fact that protein shakes are a much quicker, and cheaper way of getting protein. Another very helpful protein supplement is creatine, a muscle building supplement. Creatine is an organic compound with the nominal formula CNCH₂CO₂H. This species exists in various modifications in solution. Creatine is found in vertebrates where it facilitates recycling of adenosine triphosphate, the energy currency of the cell, primarily in muscle and brain tissue. Is creatine worth it? Taking creatine may actually worsen performance in endurance sports because of weight gain and dehydration. Strength and short-distance athletes may benefit from taking creatine, as it generally results in increased strength and increased muscle mass. So pretty much this kinda protein supplement is not really meant for sports and more short duration but high endurance activities like weight lifting. The bad thing is, there are cons of using protein supplements. Creatine for example can cause things like this: -Kidney damage -Liver damage -Kidney stone -Weight gain -Bloating -Dehydration -Muscle cramps -Digestive problems There isn't as bad things about protein powder but certain protein powders may be high in added sugars and calories. Some protein powders have little added sugar, and others have a lot (as much as 23 grams per scoop). Some protein powders wind up turning a glass of milk into a drink with more than 1,200 calories. The risk: weight gain and an unhealthy spike in blood sugar.

How Veganism is bad for you
Here's why I believe veganism is one of the most unhealthy diets you can be on. If you don't know what a vegan diet is here's a little back story. Veganism is defined as a way of living that attempts to exclude all forms of animal exploitation and cruelty, whether for food, clothing or any other purpose. A vegan diet - which is vegetarian but without dairy and eggs - is one of the most unhealthy diets in my opinion. This is not because I have any personal bias against it, but because it has been proven that some of the mandatory vitamins that you can get from something like eggs or meat for example vitamin b12. Typically the problems start with a lack of appetite, energy, and strength, and escalate over time to chronic fatigue, dental problems, muscle wasting, premature aging, digestive issues, skin conditions, and very often a mental-health issue: anxiety, panic, mood swings, depression, or eating disorders. This decline in health happens slowly in most people, so it isn’t always clear to them what the root cause is. But when I treat clients in this downward spiral I frequently see the common denominator is a vegan diet. This is not only because a vegan diet removes some of the foods that are most nutritionally dense - namely meat, dairy, and eggs - but because it usually replaces them with grains and vegetable oils - which provide cheap, nutritionally-empty calories, and invariably create a lot of inflammation and health problems. Chinese food
Chinese food is very popular, most places and Countries have some sort of chinese food restaurant. But there's some things you don’t know about the Chinese eating habits. Facts you might not know about Chinese food. There are 5 different key flavours that must be balanced according to Traditional Chinese medicine - sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and spicy. Foods eaten in China that are less common in Canada Some foods that could be included in Chinese cuisine include scorpions, snakes, boiled blood, feet, heads, hearts, lungs, livers, and kidneys. Popular Chinese Dishes in China HotPot Szechuan Pork Braised pork balls in gravy Shrimp with Vermicelli and Garlic Dumplings Chow Mein Peking Roasted Duck Steamed Vermicelli Rolls Most popular Chinese dishes in Canada. Chow Mein Hot Pots Szechuan dishes Chow Fun Fried Rice Egg Foo Yung Soups Wontons Roasted Veggie dishes What are Steroids? Performance Enhancing Drugs or PEDs have been in use since the 1954 olympics when the Russian weightlifting team implemented testosterone into their training. At the time, the research behind the benefits and risks of PEDs was nonexistent, and it was unknown what exactly testosterone, human growth hormone, and other drugs could do. Today, humans know most of the PEDs by name and have a general understanding of what they do. For example, an injection of testosterone will increase the building of muscle and in general enhance what are typically known as “masculine” features. What do these mean for your health and diet? While testosterone does increase performance, particularly in high level sports, any person who takes it stands a strong chance of developing very dangerous side effects. Lower levels of High Density Lipoproteins (HDL) and higher levels of Low Density Lipoproteins (LDL) are one example of a common side effect. LDLs form fat layers inside arteries that slowly build up and will increase blood pressure that can lead to heart failure and stroke. In order to stay healthy while taking these drugs, a strict diet must be maintained; no solid fats such as butter, dairy, lard, or fast food which all increase LDL levels (bad fats). Instead, healthy and essential fats such as fish, avocado, and other HDL (good fats) fats must be consumed in order to lower the LDL levels inside the body. Many of these symptoms have become stereotypes in the gym, called “juiceheads” and while the term may be humorous, the side effects are not and these drugs should not be taken lightly. As Canadians, there is the ability to take these drugs without it being wrong or illegal, however one must know the effects and be aware of the dangers that are posed. Finally, one must ask whether the benefits of increased muscle mass outweighs the health risks. (Are the gains worth it?)

I grew up with interesting foods often very different from European foods or what people would call normal culture. Lebanon was often controlled by other countries because they were a small place compared to many others. This formed their cuisine throughout their history. It started in the 1500s when ottoman turks had been in control of Lebanon, they introduced lots of staple ingredients in the Lebanese cuisine nowadays. Such as olive oil, laban and lots of nuts. The main focus in Lebanese food is spices and herbs. I grew up with a pizza-like food called manaqish, it had a dough with zaatar. This is a highly popular breakfast item that is served with laban, vegetables, and a cheese called halloumi. They focus on herbs and spices because only 30% or less of Lebanon is sustainable for crops. France also influenced Lebanese culture. They introduced more dessert-like foods such as flan and custards. Religion has a large part of their food culture as well there are two main religions in Lebanon these affect the food. The two main religions are christianity and islam. if you are muslim they don't eat pork so it is very rare to find a dish with pork in Lebanese culture because it is against the religion. These religions also dictate the holidays you celebrate. The islam culture is very food driven they fast for 24 hours and then have a food celebration the next day. They have a ceremony where a sheep is killed and most families donate their portion to the poor. In christianity they can eat pork but it is not a staple food in Lebanon. Christianity in Lebanon is different than it is here during Easter because they don't eat turkey or ham for dinner on Easter or do egg hunting. They eat lamb and date filled cake. And play a game called biis biis which is a game that has a hard boiled egg and they test whose is strongest. Also in most wealthier middle easter families houses they have a room reserved for high officials in Lebanese government that is solely reserved for them. They keep it spotless and their couches are wrapped in a plastic covering. This room is not touched or used in everyday life. It is cleaned everyday. My grandparents have a room like this and they live in Edmonton so it is very rare that they have anyone of that importance visiting their house but they still have the room because it is very important to have a room for special dining in their culture. Their culture is very different from ours and it is nice to be able to see two very different cultures in contrast. People often don't see the differences between middle eastern cuisines because they are often lumped together but when researched there are the same foods but they can be drastically different whether it is the way it is made or if it is different spices added. This can be controversial because it does add to cultural appropriation. This doesn't give credit to each country because they are often lumped into one. This is a problem because even in Lebanon I know that if you go south it can be drastically different than northern Lebanon. So when people give credit to middle eastern foods they often don't know where in the middle east and the difference between each place. Kibbeh nayyeh is also a popular food item. It is raw beef with lots of spices. Eating raw meat is a big part of their culture as well. I remember eating raw steak with hummus growing up and I remember telling people and they were always so concerned about it because they thought I would get sick. I never understood why people thought I would because it was a regular occurrence and it was just part of their culture. This video explains how food in Lebanon plays a huge role in their society. The video above explains more about how Lebanese food should be eaten. It also mentions more popular food in Lebanon.

Well how do people do it, they get into diets that will hopefully transform their body. Also how you see all these celebrities doing these Keto diets and how they “work in a week's time”. And I know how you feel. I used to want to go on one when I was younger to really get in shape but then I read and witnessed all the bad side effects that can happen to a growing young body. When going on these diets at a young age you are mainly cutting out carbs to get lean. But if this was done at a young age you can go through some major side effects from nausea to cold sweats.
Everyone is told that it is good for you and will get you in shape in no time. But the truth is to some people these diets can be extremely harmful cause everyone's bodies are different. Lots of studies have been done and the big problem with Keto diets for most people is that their cholesterol levels go way up. The issue with this is that if someone's cholesterol levels rise then it can raise the chances or cause heart disease. Luckily I stopped while I was ahead because the diets they gave me were terrible for my body type. There were studies done and on average 37% of people that do these diets get the flu, which is fairly common as well as getting very dehydrated due to how much you're limiting your carb intake. In a short conclusion do the research before you are fully committed to one of these diets. If this task is not done and you are not sure you could put your body at risk of something. So my question to you is, If you saw someone that you knew doing one of these diets, would you try to explain the risks and side effects of these diets? https://www.jillianmichaels.com/blog/health-and-fitness/truth-about-keto#:~:text=The%20Keto%20Diet%20a.k.a.%20Atkins%20Diet%2C%20a.k.a.%20phase,nefarious%20as%20it%E2%80%99s%20touted%20as%20a%20healthy%20lifestyle. https://www.cooperinstitute.org/2019/01/23/the-truth-about-the-keto-diet https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/keto-diet-side-effects#other-considerations The overall consensus was that the Beyond Burger would be pretty tasty served up with all of the normal toppings of a normal burger. Me personally, I thought it tasted too much like raw meat (in a good way). All in all, the Beyond Burger got pretty good reviews! Now how does this new Beyond Burger stand up to a traditional beef burger? Compared to the USDA calculations for four-ounces of 80/20 ground beef, the Beyond Burger is slightly lower in calories and fat, about equal in protein, and has only about 2/3 the sat fat. The Beyond Burger also has 2g fiber and lacks dietary cholesterol, so all in all, it is slightly healthier—though not nearly as much as a traditional veggie burger. But that’s not really the point to eating a Beyond Burger. The main focus isn't to create a healthier patty, but rather to create a healthier planet. Beyond Meat is also on a mission to positively impact climate change, address global resource constraints, and improve animal welfare through their plant-based meat substitutes. Here is a recipe on how to make it and what it is made of exactly. Beyond Meat Burger Recipe 12 oz sliced mushrooms, sautéed until browned canned or fresh 1 cup cooked short-grain rice 12 oz tempeh, chopped ¼ cup quick cook oats, dry 2 tablespoons grated beets ½ cup yellow peas 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon pepper 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional (adds heat) 1 tablespoon nutritional yeast 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon onion powder 1 tablespoon coconut oil Instructions Cook the rice and set aside one cup. Sauté the mushrooms until tender and browned. Coarsely chop the tempeh into 1/2 inch cups. Add all ingredients to a large bowl food processor and process until mostly chopped, and incorporated, and the mix resembles "hamburger." Divide into eight pieces (or more or less, depending on how large you want your burgers), and shape into patties. Sauté patties in a pan with optional oil and serve on buns with your choice of condiments. When I tried this recipe I thought it was crazy how much it looked like a real burger! Honestly, I thought it looked more like a burger patty than a real one! The texture of the patty was very different. With a real meat burger it's very easy to tear, with the beyond meat burger, the patty was held together and had a sandy texture in my mouth. I feel like with condiments and all that jazz, the Beyond Meat burger would be next to impossible to tell the difference between real meat. I think everyone should try the Beyond Meat alternative as I think it is the future of foods! It is a controversial topic because some people refuse to eat meat and some people refuse not to eat meat. Especially in my household, my dad doesn't allow us to eat Beyond Meat as he is a huge meat eater. My sister and I are looking to save our generation by cutting down on eating meat and trying new alternatives. That just shows how different peoples opinions can be! So my question is, would you consider trying Beyond Meat and if so, would you try to incorporate it into your daily diet? https://www.planted365.com/2018/05/18/impossible-burger/ https://www.cookinglight.com/news/meatier-beyond-burger-2-review#:~:text=The%20overall%20consensus%20was%20that,2.0%20got%20pretty%20good%20reviews! Over 500 billion plastic water bottles are distributed yearly, sad thing is most of them end up in landfills, and a single water bottle takes up to 1000 years to biodegrade, that meaning if its not recycled then over that entire time it's sitting there polluting the environment. Not all water bottle companies have been accused of this but some companies such as Nestle Waters North American inc, have caused a lot of concerns in the past for Canadians protesting the fact that a large corporation of bottled water often limiting the local use to the water, ethical reasons and also causing environmental strain. Back in 2003 Nestle was sued for false advertising, the company had claimed that their water comes from natural springs, when in reality it's extracted from heavily treated ground water. The most general feeling people have is that tap water is not safe to drink, water bottle advertisements portray you into staying away from any possible contamination from pathogens and chemicals that tap water is said to contain, what ads don't tell you is that the water your trying to avoid might be in the water bottled water your drinking. In many parts of the world clean drinking water isn't available, they often have no choice but to have to buy water bottles that are at prices excessively high, however in more industrialized countries people generally have the access to clean and inexpensive water, but the majority still choose to purchase bottled water. It's said more than 25% of water bottles are just tap water that have been treated and purified, then it's marketed and sold, basically making it when you buy them you're just paying money for the plastic and the label not the actual water. The most simple solution to this is just to stop buying them, and instead to just buy a water filter, this would be much better alternative instead of buying a water bottle that will take up to 1000 years to biodegrade In the future will one day plastic water bottles never be made again? Or is less or more being produced? What does the future look like with plastic water bottles? And plastic in general, is it worse or getting better?
