The overall consensus was that the Beyond Burger would be pretty tasty served up with all of the normal toppings of a normal burger. Me personally, I thought it tasted too much like raw meat (in a good way). All in all, the Beyond Burger got pretty good reviews! Now how does this new Beyond Burger stand up to a traditional beef burger? Compared to the USDA calculations for four-ounces of 80/20 ground beef, the Beyond Burger is slightly lower in calories and fat, about equal in protein, and has only about 2/3 the sat fat. The Beyond Burger also has 2g fiber and lacks dietary cholesterol, so all in all, it is slightly healthier—though not nearly as much as a traditional veggie burger. But that’s not really the point to eating a Beyond Burger. The main focus isn't to create a healthier patty, but rather to create a healthier planet. Beyond Meat is also on a mission to positively impact climate change, address global resource constraints, and improve animal welfare through their plant-based meat substitutes. Here is a recipe on how to make it and what it is made of exactly. Beyond Meat Burger Recipe 12 oz sliced mushrooms, sautéed until browned canned or fresh 1 cup cooked short-grain rice 12 oz tempeh, chopped ¼ cup quick cook oats, dry 2 tablespoons grated beets ½ cup yellow peas 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon pepper 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional (adds heat) 1 tablespoon nutritional yeast 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon onion powder 1 tablespoon coconut oil Instructions Cook the rice and set aside one cup. Sauté the mushrooms until tender and browned. Coarsely chop the tempeh into 1/2 inch cups. Add all ingredients to a large bowl food processor and process until mostly chopped, and incorporated, and the mix resembles "hamburger." Divide into eight pieces (or more or less, depending on how large you want your burgers), and shape into patties. Sauté patties in a pan with optional oil and serve on buns with your choice of condiments. When I tried this recipe I thought it was crazy how much it looked like a real burger! Honestly, I thought it looked more like a burger patty than a real one! The texture of the patty was very different. With a real meat burger it's very easy to tear, with the beyond meat burger, the patty was held together and had a sandy texture in my mouth. I feel like with condiments and all that jazz, the Beyond Meat burger would be next to impossible to tell the difference between real meat. I think everyone should try the Beyond Meat alternative as I think it is the future of foods! It is a controversial topic because some people refuse to eat meat and some people refuse not to eat meat. Especially in my household, my dad doesn't allow us to eat Beyond Meat as he is a huge meat eater. My sister and I are looking to save our generation by cutting down on eating meat and trying new alternatives. That just shows how different peoples opinions can be! So my question is, would you consider trying Beyond Meat and if so, would you try to incorporate it into your daily diet? https://www.planted365.com/2018/05/18/impossible-burger/ https://www.cookinglight.com/news/meatier-beyond-burger-2-review#:~:text=The%20overall%20consensus%20was%20that,2.0%20got%20pretty%20good%20reviews!
