Over 500 billion plastic water bottles are distributed yearly, sad thing is most of them end up in landfills, and a single water bottle takes up to 1000 years to biodegrade, that meaning if its not recycled then over that entire time it's sitting there polluting the environment. Not all water bottle companies have been accused of this but some companies such as Nestle Waters North American inc, have caused a lot of concerns in the past for Canadians protesting the fact that a large corporation of bottled water often limiting the local use to the water, ethical reasons and also causing environmental strain. Back in 2003 Nestle was sued for false advertising, the company had claimed that their water comes from natural springs, when in reality it's extracted from heavily treated ground water. The most general feeling people have is that tap water is not safe to drink, water bottle advertisements portray you into staying away from any possible contamination from pathogens and chemicals that tap water is said to contain, what ads don't tell you is that the water your trying to avoid might be in the water bottled water your drinking. In many parts of the world clean drinking water isn't available, they often have no choice but to have to buy water bottles that are at prices excessively high, however in more industrialized countries people generally have the access to clean and inexpensive water, but the majority still choose to purchase bottled water. It's said more than 25% of water bottles are just tap water that have been treated and purified, then it's marketed and sold, basically making it when you buy them you're just paying money for the plastic and the label not the actual water. The most simple solution to this is just to stop buying them, and instead to just buy a water filter, this would be much better alternative instead of buying a water bottle that will take up to 1000 years to biodegrade In the future will one day plastic water bottles never be made again? Or is less or more being produced? What does the future look like with plastic water bottles? And plastic in general, is it worse or getting better?
